Fast 15 with Alice Fry

Fast 15 with Alice Fry

What is your role at The Print Room?

Embroidery for the most part, but I also do relabelling and the occasional garment mending when needed!

I love the Botanical Gardens because there’s so much to do there. Feeding the ducks and checking out the aviary are two of my favourite activities to do there. I also like to use the Gardens for my fashion shoots.

What are your hobbies?

Ice skating, hand-embroidery, drawing and napping with my kitties.

Got any book recommendations?

The Fables series by Bill Willingham.

What’s your go-to coffee?

Mocha!

What are your all-time favourite albums?

Electra Heart by Marina and The Suburbs by Arcade Fire.

Your lifelong dream?

To have a successful, sustainable fashion brand. I want to make intricate, commissioned garments!

What are you doing to help the environment?

I only eat chicken and fish, I limit my plastic use as much as possible, and I make garments using only natural or second-hand fibres. I like to keep all my scraps and use them to make pillow stuffing.

What were you doing before TPR and what brought you here?

I spent the last three years at Otago Polytechnic studying fashion design. I stumbled into working at The Print Room when I answered an advertisement for a casual relabelling position and was offered a job in embroidery.

Take a snap of something that makes you happy:

If you had unlimited Airpoints and could go to one country tomorrow, where would it be and why?

I would go to England to visit my family and childhood friends.

Would you rather clap your hands to make legal $5 notes, or have the ability to teleport?

I would want to teleport because not only would it be super useful currently, its value would also hold up if society were to collapse and money were to become meaningless.

You’re having a dinner party at your house. What do you make?

Chicken burritos are my specialty. I would make them irrationally hot to weed out the weak.

You’re allowed three famous guests at this dinner party. Who are they and why?

Henry Cavill (because he’s pretty and seems like fun), Lily Collins (because she has amazing fashion sense), and Ryan Gosling (for the good vibes and the dance skills).
